Solar Installation for Manhattanโ€™s Flat Roof Homes

Manhattanโ€™s architecture is as diverse and unique as its people. Its townhomes, however, share similar attributes: they typically have flat roofs and share walls with adjacent buildings, unlike sloped, suburban homes. For this reason, conventional solar models are a poor fit for the homes of Manhattan.

And thatโ€™s where we come in: weโ€™ve developed two unique, made in NY solar solutions built specifically for New York Cityโ€™s roofs.

How to Go Solar in Manhattan

Brooklyn SolarWorks is proud to be a full-service solar provider โ€“ weโ€™ll take care of every step for you, from roof assessment to permit applications to system monitoring. Our experienced installation team can complete an average project in Manhattan in just one day with limited interruption to your home and routine.

Manhattan Solar Cost

Manhattan is a borough unlike any other, and the solar techniques its homes require are no different. Thereโ€™s no one-size-fits-all solution for solar in NYC, and looking into solar panel pricing in any other area of the country, or even the Tri-State area, wonโ€™t give you a good idea of what it might cost for you here. Thatโ€™s why our team will always perform an in-person assessment of your roof prior to quoting a project โ€“ no virtual estimates here.

Harlem

A cultural epicenter with a rich history, Harlem is home to beautiful brownstones โ€“ many of which have adopted solar as a form of renewable energy.

Hell’s Kitchen

Just west of Midtown lies Hellโ€™s Kitchen, a lively residential neighborhood with plenty of solar power.

Greenwich Village

Greenwich Village is known for its bars, comedy clubs, NYU buildings, and of course, Washington Square Park. Soon, itโ€™ll be known for its solar powered brownstones, too!

Local Solar Incentives are Available

New York City offers rich government incentives for residential solar, covering around 50% of the cost of an installation. Plus, with New Yorkers facing continued utility rate increases, the savings from switching to solar can exceed $80,000 overtime.

NYS Solar Income Tax Credit

Residential solar owners can claim a $5,000 tax credit on their New York State income taxes. The credit can be divided over multiple tax years if a client is unable to fully utilize it in a single year.

NYC SOLAR PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT

20% of your solar installation costs can be claimed as a local property tax abatement with the NYC Department of Finance. The abatement is divided into annual 5% installments over a four year cycle. The NYC PTA will only be available for systems installed by December 31, 2023.

Historic Homeownership Rehabilitation Tax Credit

For qualifying homeowners, this state income tax credit covers a percentage of eligible rehabilitation expenses to offset costs for restoring and upgrading historic structures, including windows and doors, roofs, and solar. This tax credit can cover up to 20% of installation costs.

Net Metering

Net meteringย is a billing mechanism with Con Edison in which any excess solar energy your panels product is sent back to the grid, and then credited back to you on future Con Ed bills for you to use when your home needs more energy than your solar system is currently supplying, like at night or on a very rainy day.
